$3

Alright, it's only $3. But come on.

We have to dress up for work. It's not that big of a deal... dress pants, a MODEST dressy shirt, or a dress, heels, nice sandals, whatever... it's not that hard.

Everyone here thinks it's FABULOUS when they can wear jeans to work. Believe me, I've done it. Wearing jeans to work every day is boring. Eventually, people show up in their pajamas... or so it looks like.

We do get to wear jeans on Fridays. Alright, there's your relief, people.

But on the odd occasion, we get a cute little email that says we can wear jeans on a random Tuesday or Thursday. For a $3 donation.

So they're making us pay to dress more casually. And it's not like this is the honor system. They have people stand inside the door and collect the money as you enter. How stupid is that? I mean, are we in high school?

Ugh. I refuse to pay to wear jeans to work. That's just ridiculous.

Maybe I'll sneak my jeans past the money collectors in my purse and change when I get upstairs. Hmmmmm... now that's an idea!

Ham.

I don't eat ham. ever.

It's not a pork thing. I don't have anything against pigs or hogs. I just don't like ham.

To me, it's sorta the world's 'generic' meat. Ham and cheese. Ham salad. Ham on Christmas. Ham sandwich. Ham and beans.

All of those make me *cringe*.

My husband doesn't eat ham either. I'm guessing our children (should there ever be any) won't eat ham.

The funny thing is... my mother-in-law makes ham EVERY Christmas. I realize this is a tradition for many families. "The Christmas Ham" But my husband's never liked ham. His sister-in-law who's been around for 15+ years doesn't like ham. And I don't like ham. Yet she still makes the damn ham every year.

And her reaction is... "Oh! I didn't know you don't like ham." SURPRISE! Ugh.

Since we're talking pork products... I LOVE BACON. Bacon is the best meat on earth. I could eat it every day... if my diet would let me.

And my next dog is going to be named Bacon. For none of the reasons above. It's just a funny puppy name.

Here Bacon! HERE Bacon!

Life in general...

Why does life have to be so complicated?

I try really hard, in everything that I do to simplify things. But it seems everyone I'm around tries to make things more complicated. More procedures. More timelines. More needs. WTF?

*sigh* There are days I wish I wasn't a Neske. That always takes me back to the Lido Deck of the Carnival Imagination with my good friend, Janeice. We were two young ladies on a mission to find a man. And THEN I remember how stressful that was. And I'm happy I'm married.

Happy long weekend.

BlogStalker

Alright, alright... I have a problem. I'm a BlogStalker.

I spend my days surfing blogs.

I'm not stalking anyone in particular. Mostly I'm looking for something interesting to do while at work (in my flesh-colored cubicle walls).

I've always enjoyed people watching - I guess this is the new way... online. People take FABULOUS pictures and have WONDERFUL personalities. And it's just so interesting to see how and where other people live.

Seems to me that other people have much more interesting lives than I do. Although, maybe they're just interesting on their blogs and really sit at home and eat peanut butter sandwiches all day.

Why is it every now and then I just miss talking to certain people?

How come life has to be so chapter-like? Something changes and suddenly you don't talk to your best friend anymore.

How depressing.

Paint Colors

So the bedrooms and hallway are finished... completely finished!! WOO HOO!!

This week we're onto the downstairs - living room and kitchen. Matt's step-father offered to paint the kitchen, and I wasn't about to object. So I picked out the paint, cleaned up the space and layed everything out for him.

As we speak, we should have a newly painted kitchen!! Yippee!!

Only the living room left to go... and the bathrooms, and the laundry room, and the baseboard, and the window trim, and... *sigh* They're right. It'll never get done.

As for the rest of the move: I'm working on getting a mover to show up next Friday for a few hours. We need help moving the big bulky stuff and carrying it upstairs. As soon as the stupid salesman calls me back, we can set an actual moving date.

In other news, 28 days until The Muny season starts. I'm SO excited!! I just love spending one night a week with my girlfriends. It's so much fun! Last year was PERFECT every Monday night. The weather wasn't too hot or too cold. I hope it's the same this year.

About a month and a half until the big Eilers family trip to Disney World. Also a lot to look forward to there. :) I just hope Matt finds the will power to spend 7 nights and 8 days in close quarters with my mom. I guess it's about time to start making the matching t-shirts.

That's it for me. I guess it's time to get back to work. Although I'm having a hard time concentrating because I'm so excited about the paint color!!

Life Happens...

So we're now on day #22 of being homeowners. We've cleaned, painted, patched, painted, cleaned, painted, mowed, mowed, mowed... and back for more painting this weekend. It almost seems as if it'll never be finished.

And every homeowner I talk to says, it'll NEVER be finished. There will always be something else we want to do with the house.

I agree and understand them completely... but I'm really ready to move! I hate living between two places. And I'm sick of spending my entire week and weekend working. At least if we lived there, I could do some things at night.

*sigh*

Only a few more weeks.
